In 2025, Almaty will acquire 600 gas buses and 200 electric buses. The mayor of the city, Yerbolat Dosaev, spoke about the main projects for the development of transport infrastructure planned for the next year during an extraordinary session of the maslikhat, where the three-year budget for Almaty was approved.
"In 2025, the Almaty akimat plans to issue 'green' bonds for the first time to implement projects such as continuing the construction of the BRT line along Zheltoksan Street, purchasing 100 new electric buses, and updating 10 traction substations for trolleybuses. Under the direction of the head of state, we are actively working to attract external loans for the expansion of the existing metro line westward to the 'Barlyk' market and for the construction of a new line eastward to the International Airport of Almaty," - said Yerbolat Dosaev.
He noted that the formation of the transport framework of Almaty continues, with a focus on the qualitative development of public transport.
"In 2025, the construction of radial roads to BAKAD will see the completion of the breakthrough of Abay Avenue and Sain Street, as well as the commencement of the breakthrough of Tlendiev Street and the Northern Ring Road. In total, 34 billion tenge has been allocated for the continuation of the transport framework formation and the breakthrough of radial roads next year," - said Yerbolat Dosaev.
According to the akim, this year 600 gas buses and 100 electric buses have been purchased, which has reduced the average service life of public transport from 6 to 2.5 years, improving the comfort and environmental friendliness of city residents' trips. Additionally, this year the trolleybus fleet has been completely updated - a total of 212 trolleybuses.
