The General Prosecutor's Office is conducting personal receptions to ensure fair decisions and protect the rights and interests of citizens. Additionally, a special working group has been established to address complaints.
In 2024, there were 4,389 applications regarding unlawful convictions, incorrect application of legal articles, or excessive punishments. As a result of the investigations, 133 applications were confirmed, and protests were issued against 148 individuals.
Furthermore, as a result of the investigations, 8 individuals were fully exonerated, 48 individuals had their sentences reduced, the conditions of 56 convicted persons were improved, and in 12 cases, criminal cases were sent for review and new hearings in court.
Most appeals to the General Prosecutor's Office do not find confirmation. An example was provided where a convicted murderer contested the court's decision, claiming self-defense. However, the evidence presented showed that 6 stab wounds were inflicted on vital organs, and the convict fled the crime scene, confirming intentional murder.
