During the investigation, an assessment will be conducted of the actions taken by dispatch services, air traffic control, and air defense systems.
“The Investigative Committee of Russia continues its investigation into the criminal case regarding the crash on December 25, 2024, in the Republic of Kazakhstan involving an Embraer-E190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines, which resulted in the deaths of 39 individuals and injuries to 28 others (Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),” stated Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The investigation is collaborating with aviation authorities from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and the Interstate Aviation Committee. Data from the flight recorders, provided by the Brazilian SENIPA center, along with the crew's communications with the dispatchers in Grozny, Makhachkala, and Mineralnye Vody, are being analyzed, as well as the condition of all aircraft systems and physical evidence. All possible scenarios are being considered.
It is worth noting that the disaster occurred near Aktau. There were 67 people on board the Baku-Grozny flight, of which 38 passengers lost their lives, while 29 survived.
