The Anti-Corruption Agency clarified that the Zhyloy District Court of the Atyrau Region has sentenced the director of the State Institution "Center for Special Social Services for Adults No. 2," Zhalekenova G., and the accountant Shmidova A. They were found guilty of embezzling over 73 million tenge from the budget through the illegal payment of salaries to individuals who were not actually employed by the institution.
The court sentenced Shmidova to 7 years in prison, while Zhalekenova received a sentence of 3 years and 6 months of restricted freedom, taking into account the full restitution of the stolen funds and her status as a mother of a minor child. Both convicted individuals are permanently barred from holding positions in public service and in the quasi-public sector.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
