In 2024, the Astana International Financial Centre attracted $3.1 billion, as reported by the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the AIFC.
According to the center, the total amount of investments attracted through the AIFC platform in 2024 was $3.1 billion, of which $2.1 billion were portfolio investments on the Astana International Exchange and $1 billion were investments from AIFC participants. Since its inception, the AIFC has attracted a total of $14 billion: $6.7 billion in portfolio investments and $7.3 billion from AIFC participants.
According to Renat Beketurov, the managing director of the Astana International Financial Centre, the trading volume on AIX doubled this year, large companies have entered the jurisdiction, the first local sukuk has been listed, the volume of investment funds has increased, several cryptocurrency exchanges have transitioned to full regulatory compliance, and the legal framework of the center has been enhanced.
Over the year, more than 1100 new participant companies were registered in the AIFC, compared to over 600 last year. In total, more than 3500 companies from 85 countries are registered, including the USA, the UK, China, Turkey, Singapore, and others. Among the companies registered in 2024, the share of financial companies was 36%. The information and communication sector accounted for 10%, professional, scientific, and technical activities for 8%, the mining industry for 8%, auxiliary services suppliers for 1%, wholesale and retail trade companies for 18%, and the remaining 19% were represented by other non-financial sectors.
As of the end of the third quarter of this year, AIFC participants paid taxes to the budget of Kazakhstan amounting to 41.3 billion tenge , which is 4.3 billion tenge more than the total for the previous year. Since the center's establishment, a total of 126.5 billion tenge has been paid.
