An informal meeting of CIS country leaders has begun in St. Petersburg.

This annual meeting traditionally takes place at the end of December. During this event, the leaders of the countries will discuss pressing issues concerning the Commonwealth. This year, the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and other topics will be on the agenda.

The annual meeting of the CIS leaders is usually held in Saint Petersburg; however, this year, the main venue has shifted to the "Igora" resort complex in the Leningrad region.

At the summit, participants will address current international issues, cooperation within the CIS, preparations for the anniversary of the Great Victory, and other matters. Later, discussions will continue in an informal setting.

The Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, one of the invitees, will not be able to attend the event due to a positive coronavirus test result received on Monday. His participation in the EAEU summit, scheduled for tomorrow at "Igora," remains uncertain.
