Kazakhstan has returned the previously frozen $80 million to the National Fund as part of the Stati case, reported Timur Suleimenov, the head of the National Bank, according to a correspondent from the business information center Kapital.kz.
“This unfreezing of funds is one of the best pieces of news in recent times,” said Timur Suleimenov in the corridors of the Mazhilis.
The head of the National Bank explained that the money had been frozen ten years ago:
“These assets were frozen as a result of events that occurred many years ago. Now, thanks to successful negotiations, we have returned $80 million to the National Fund of Kazakhstan.”
Furthermore, on December 18, it was announced that the government, the National Bank, and the Stati parties, with the support of the main creditors Tristan Oil, have completed the process of settling a long-term dispute over oil and gas assets in the country.
