Residents of Astana observed an unusual phenomenon in the sky over the capital – a solar halo. Local resident Dauren Barbolov captured this stunning natural occurrence, as reported by Tengri Life.
On December 5, the skies of the capital were adorned with this phenomenon – a solar halo, which creates the optical illusion of multiple "suns" in the sky.
As is known, a halo is an optical phenomenon in the atmosphere that can be observed in clear, frosty weather. It occurs when sunlight is refracted through ice crystals in the air, producing a rainbow-like glow around the sun.
In Greek, the word "halo" translates to "aura" or "glowing circle." This term is often used to describe the luminous ring surrounding a bright light source, such as the Sun, the Moon, or divine figures in religious art.
