The Akim of ZKO discussed actions taken to fulfill the President's directives and the region's socio-economic development.

A regional meeting was held in Uralsk, where the Akim of the West Kazakhstan region, Nariman Turegaliev, presented a report on the socio-economic development of the area. He outlined key objectives in line with the directives from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, given during the extended government meeting, according to the regional Akimat.
The Akim of ZKO discussed actions taken to fulfill the President's directives and the region's socio-economic development.

As of the end of 2024, investments in fixed capital increased by 4.7%, totaling 712.9 billion tenge. The gross regional product for the first nine months of 2024 grew by 1.9%, reaching 3.4 trillion tenge.

"One of the key directions for economic development is the promotion of exports and the reduction of import dependence. Overall, in 2024, the export volume amounted to 6.4 billion USD. It is important to note that by the end of the year, a positive trade balance was established in the region, meaning that exports exceed imports. However, considering that a significant portion of exports is made up of oil and gas products, it is necessary to continue developing the manufacturing sector in the region. With the attraction of investments, enterprises should increase their capacity and prioritize the production of export-oriented goods. In the next five years, 59 investment projects will be implemented in the region, of which 26 are planned to be launched this year, creating 800 jobs," said Nariman Turegaliev.

To support small and medium-sized businesses, systemic measures are planned to increase their share in the gross regional product to 40% by 2028.

Initiatives to improve the social sphere and healthcare are also planned. In particular, the regional Employment Coordination and Social Programs Department, along with city and district akimats, has been tasked with enhancing efforts to create jobs, engage the unemployed in vocational training and social projects, and ensure employment for the population.

In healthcare, the construction of inter-district hospitals in the Burlynsky and Kaztalovsky districts is being considered, as well as major renovations of four healthcare facilities in Uralsk and the Karatobinsky district.

Significant attention is being paid to education: in 2025, the construction of 17 new schools is planned, with construction of 7 already underway. Among these, 10 are small schools, one is a medium school with a capacity of 400, and six educational institutions are part of the "Comfortable School" project. These measures will eliminate 8 emergency and 7 three-shift schools. In 2023-2024, 22 new schools have already been commissioned in the region, three of which were built under the "Comfortable School" project.

Infrastructure development and housing construction also remain priorities. In 2025, repairs are scheduled for 212 km of regional and district roads, with 42.2 billion tenge allocated for this purpose.

Additionally, during the regional active meeting, the akim of the region instructed to complete all projects under the "Modernization of Rural Healthcare" initiative this year and to ensure that settlements have access to clean drinking water at a 100 percent level.

Furthermore, the akim of the region noted that the head of state declared this year as the Year of Working Professions, and various activities aimed at supporting working professions will be held in the region.

Regional development encompasses all sectors, including agriculture, digitalization, and support for rural areas.

During the meeting, community representatives expressed support for the announced initiatives.

"Valery Krylov, head of the LLP 'Uralsk Trade and Industrial Company,' emphasized the importance of the set tasks and highlighted that their implementation will contribute to the further strengthening of the economy and social sphere of the West Kazakhstan region.

"The president addressed important issues regarding the modernization of the energy sector, the implementation of new projects in industry, infrastructure development, and others. All of this will contribute to strengthening the economy of the country. As entrepreneurs, we support all initiatives of the head of state," said Valery Krylov.
