In the corridors of the Senate, Deputy Andrey Lukin stated that the expenditure of 2.5 billion tenge for the Victory Day parade is justified, despite the president's directives to reduce spending in the country, reports a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center.
“This is more than justified. This is a political issue that will be perceived positively by our society. Kazakhs are preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. One of the major events will be the Armed Forces Parade of the Republic of Kazakhstan on May 7,” said Andrey Lukin. “Attention will be drawn not only from all Kazakhs but probably from the global community as well. In this regard, the decision is absolutely correct and raises no questions. Any expenses are justified.”
In October 2024, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, noting that the anniversary unites all the peoples of the CIS, symbolizing the triumph of the ideas of freedom and justice.
Vice Minister of National Economy Arman Kassenov also shared his views on the expenses for the military parade. He believes that such events are justified even amid a budget deficit.
“I am not involved in this matter. However, when it comes to events where specific amounts are mentioned, it is important to understand that events, forums, and parades are necessary to enhance the reputation and recognition of the country and to attract investments. Amounts like 1-2-3 billion tenge are relatively small in the context of Kazakhstan's economy,” said Arman Kassenov.
As part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, veterans of the Great Patriotic War are expected to receive a one-time financial aid of 5 million tenge. According to the Ministry of Labor, as of January 20 of this year, there are 120 veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Kazakhstan, as well as 42,545 citizens who contributed to the victory.
