Even the toughest kettle scale can vanish in an instant—here are the top 3 effective methods to eliminate it.

Limescale in the kettle is a common issue faced by many homemakers. It not only detracts from the appliance's appearance but also affects the taste of water and can have negative health implications. Household remedies can help eliminate this problem and restore your appliance's original cleanliness.

1. Baking Soda

Add a tablespoon of baking soda to a glass of water and stir it well. Pour the resulting solution into the kettle, add the remaining water, and bring it to a boil. Wait for about half an hour to an hour, then heat the kettle again. After that, wash the appliance and boil clean water in it, then discard that water.

2. Lemon or Citric Acid

Heat water in the kettle and add a piece of lemon or two tablespoons of citric acid to the boiling water. Let the limescale soak for 1–2 hours. Clean the appliance with a sponge and rinse it thoroughly. After the first boil, you will need to discard the water.

3. Vinegar

Heat water in the kettle, then add one cup of 9% vinegar or 70% vinegar essence and let the solution sit for an hour. During this time, the limescale will soften. Clean the inside of the appliance with a sponge, boil clean water again, and discard it.
