According to him, out of the 4.3 billion tons of oil held by the state, 72% is concentrated in the major fields of Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak. However, in 10 to 15 years, production at these fields may significantly decline.
Additionally, Zhanbyrshin pointed out that in late-stage development fields, production is already decreasing, and some of them are ceasing operations entirely. If the pace of geological exploration and extraction remains at the current level, Kazakhstan could face the depletion of its hydrocarbon reserves within the next 15 years.
