As reported by the Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev, they plan to select a company or consortium by July 1.
The ministry is in talks with potential partners from China, Russia, France, and South Korea. A precise location for the country's first nuclear power plant has already been chosen.
According to the plan, a contractor should be determined by mid-2025, and an agreement between the governments should be signed by November.
Simultaneously, a strategy for the development of nuclear energy for the coming years is being formulated.
After the site for construction in the Zhambyl region is approved, the authorities are considering the option of building two more nuclear power plants.
