The estimated damage from the loss of marine animals could reach approximately 1.5 billion tenge.
As reported by the publication "Lada," expert and member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Ecology of Kazakhstan, Adilbek Kozybakov, stated that according to the instruction from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2017, the price for one seal is assessed at 193 MRP, which equals 712,556 tenge.
Taking into account the estimated number of deceased animals—around 2,000 individuals—the total damage may exceed 1.42 billion tenge.
Kozybakov added that the death of even one animal should serve as grounds for initiating a criminal case, and in the event of such a large-scale incident, immediate investigation is necessary.
