Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov from Azerbaijan has been recognized as the best judoka in the world based on last year's results, according to Sports.kz referencing Vestikavkaza.ru.
Azerbaijan's representative Hidayat Heydarov was awarded the title of "Best Judoka of the Year." His achievements were evaluated by experts from the International Judo Federation.
It is worth noting that 2024 has been a triumphant year for Heydarov. The judoka won the Olympic "gold," as well as championships in Europe and the world in the under 73-kilogram category. Heydarov's coach, Richard Trautmann, also received high praise from experts. The head coach of the Azerbaijani national team was recognized as the best coach of the men's team.
Let us remind you that the title of best judoka in the world was also contested by Kazakhstani athlete Yeldos Smetov, who became the Olympic champion in the under 60-kilogram category in 2024.
