Recently, there have been announcements on social media and online platforms regarding intermediary services for withdrawing pension savings above the minimum sufficiency threshold (MST) at low interest rates.
“Fraudsters are also spreading false information about alleged upcoming changes in the rules for accessing pension funds, using the logos of the Unified National Pension Fund (ENPF) and authorized operators,” the fund warns.
The ENPF states that this information is not true.
Pension savings can only be withdrawn in cases specified by the Social Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
- Upon reaching retirement age
- In the case of permanent disability of the 1st or 2nd group
- When relocating for permanent residence abroad
- In the event of inheritance
Additionally, pension funds can be used for housing and medical treatment by:
- Citizens with savings exceeding the MST (only the amount above the MST)
- Pensioners whose pension is at least 40% of lost income (up to 50% of remaining savings)
- Pensioners with years of service (up to 100% of savings)
- Individuals who have entered into a pension annuity contract (up to 100% of savings)
It is also important to note that the targeted use of funds for housing or treatment is conducted only through authorized operators – second-tier banks. Intermediaries are not needed in this process, and the ENPF does not charge any fees.
“By agreeing to the services of ‘intermediaries’, you risk losing money and personal data, which could be used in other fraudulent schemes,” the fund points out.
