The city’s leader has become acquainted with the latest achievements in digital transformation. In the "Industry X" zone, Kazakhstani tech companies showcased successful projects implemented at major industrial enterprises. "Industry X" involves the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity across various manufacturing sectors.
Almaty, serving as the digital hub of Central Asia, has traditionally hosted the forum. This year, over 300 international experts are participating in the event, presenting successful cases of digital technology applications in the real economy during more than 40 panel sessions.
It is noteworthy that about one-third of Kazakhstan's IT companies are based in Almaty. Thanks to a program initiated by the city’s leader aimed at developing the IT ecosystem in Almaty, which focuses on fostering and supporting startups in key areas such as smart cities, artificial intelligence, big data, and sustainable development, a total of $19.2 million in investments has been attracted, while the combined revenue of startups has reached 5.37 billion tenge. A total of 2,049 jobs have been created.
The Almaty Cyber Games (ACG) project is thriving in the metropolis, with the goal of establishing Almaty as the main center for esports and the gaming industry in the region. In 2024, the joint international tournament ACG International Tencent Games 2024 will take place.
Acceleration and incubation programs have successfully completed 309 startups, of which 16 have already confirmed sales in international markets.
Additionally, for the first time in Kazakhstan, video analytics and artificial intelligence have been utilized in Almaty to ensure the safety of its citizens. In 2023, the city administration implemented a comprehensive security system in state educational and preschool institutions. Following Almaty’s successful experience, other regions of the country have also begun adopting this technology. As part of the Unified Video Monitoring System project, the number of city cameras integrated into a single network is expected to increase to 70,000 by the end of the year.
