The Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, received the Ambassador of the European Union to Kazakhstan, Aleska Simkich.

During the conversation, the parties thoroughly discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakh-European cooperation, as well as reviewed the schedule of planned mutual visits and events at high and senior levels for the current year. There was an exchange of views on key issues of the international and regional agenda.

M. Nurtleu emphasized Kazakhstan's commitment to further deepening its strategic partnership with the European Union, highlighting the importance of effectively implementing the agreements reached in priority areas of cooperation such as trade and investment, transport and logistics, critical raw materials, and digitalization.

Additionally, special attention was given to the issues of liberalizing the EU visa regime for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties confirmed their determination to continue preparations for negotiations in this direction.

For his part, A. Simkich welcomed the high dynamics of interaction and expressed readiness to continue efforts to develop bilateral relations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the interlocutors agreed to maintain contact on relevant issues of bilateral cooperation.

The European Union is the main trading and investment partner of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The trade turnover from January to November 2024 amounted to 44.2 billion US dollars, which is 17.7% higher compared to the same period last year. The volume of European investments in the economy of Kazakhstan since 2005 has reached 180 billion dollars.
