Italy places great importance on its strategic partnership with Kazakhstan.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alibek Kuantyrov, held talks with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, Edmundo Chirielli, as reported by DKnews.kz.
Italy places great importance on its strategic partnership with Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation, particularly the progress of the practical implementation of agreements reached following the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Italy in January 2024.

Additionally, the interlocutors exchanged views on cooperation within the "Central Asia + Italy" dialogue, as well as in various international organizations.

A. Kuantyrov emphasized that Italy is Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in the European Union. He expressed satisfaction with the successful holding of the 9th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Italian intergovernmental working group on industrial and economic cooperation and exchange, which took place during E. Chirielli's visit to our capital.

In turn, the Italian diplomat confirmed that Rome traditionally places great importance on its strategic partnership with Astana. In particular, he informed about the project by the company "Sogesid," aimed at the socio-ecological revival of the areas around the Aral Sea.

In this context, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan welcomed the Italian side's initiative to develop an Action Plan for creating a knowledge exchange network between Central Asia and Italy, which includes meetings of working groups on agriculture, healthcare, transport, higher education, water resources, and energy.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue a multifaceted dialogue aimed at strengthening the entire spectrum of Kazakh-Italian strategic partnership.

Reference: Italy is the largest economic partner of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the EU. From January to September 2024, trade turnover reached 16 billion USD (exports – 15.1 billion, imports – 900 million), which is 36% higher than the same period last year (11.7 billion USD). From 2005 to the second quarter of 2024, the volume of investments from Italy to Kazakhstan amounted to over 7.6 billion USD. There are 278 legal entities with Italian capital registered in Kazakhstan.
