A suspect in a major fraud case has been extradited from Serbia.

Employees of the Prosecutor General's Office and Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan extradited a Kazakh citizen from Serbia to bring him to justice for large-scale fraud, reports a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center, citing the agency's press service.

"From 2018 to 2019, the suspect, by placing false advertisements for the sale of special equipment on the website 'Kolesa.kz', defrauded four individuals, causing them a total loss of $205,000. After committing the crime, the suspect went into hiding, and as a result, he was placed on the international wanted list," the prosecutor's office explained.

In 2023, he was detained in Serbia and extradited at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan.

The suspect has been placed in a pre-trial detention center in Astana.

"For the crime he is accused of, the punishment is imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with confiscation of property," the agency noted.
