During the investigation conducted by the special prosecutors of the Almaty region, it was established that the defendants, Pisariev P., the former head of institution No. 57 of the penal system, and Bolekbai E., the head of the operational department of institution No. 12 of the penal system, repeatedly accepted bribes. This granted them protection and certain privileges for inmates during their sentences, as well as the ability to smuggle prohibited items and substances into the facility.
The court in the city of Konaev found Pisariev P. and Bolekbai E. guilty, sentencing Pisariev to 9 years and Bolekbai to 3 years of imprisonment in a medium-security colony. This illustrates the inevitability of punishment for corruption-related crimes.
