According to Express.co.uk, regular cleaning of the toilet helps prevent the formation of stubborn stains. However, those who have neglected this task for a long time may need some advice.

A bathroom and cleaning expert provided tips on how to remove the toilet seat from the bowl and clean the stains on it.

“Most modern toilets have a button in the center of the seat that is pressed when you lift the lid and seat. These are known as quick-release hinges, and pressing the button will allow you to easily remove the toilet seat. After that, you can thoroughly wash the seat and reach those areas of the bowl that are otherwise inaccessible,” she said.

What Products are Suitable for Removing Stains from the Toilet Seat

According to the expert, the best option for stain removal is a “natural solution,” as bleach “won't budge the stains.”

“I recommend mixing baking soda with vinegar and applying this paste directly to the problem stains. If left for three minutes and then wiped with a microfiber cloth, the stains should disappear. For deeper, older stains, the process may need to be repeated,” the message states.

However, if you have a wooden toilet seat, a vinegar solution might not be the best choice, as the acidic nature of vinegar can “eat away at the finish.”

For wooden toilet seats, it is recommended to use warm soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth.
