February Without Additional Days Off
The last month of winter will not provide Kazakhstanis with extra holiday days. In February, there will be 20 working days and 8 days off, which will fall exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays.
Increase in Electricity Prices in Several Regions
Starting from February 1, electricity tariffs will rise in several regions of Kazakhstan. The document with the new rates, approved by the Minister of Energy on January 27, comes into effect at the beginning of the month.
The cost of electricity will increase at most large stations. For instance, at Ekibastuz GRES-1, the price will rise from 8.27 to 9.5 tenge per kilowatt-hour, while at Karaganda Energy Center, it will go up from 14.09 to 17.64 tenge. In some cases, the increase will exceed 30%.
Changes in Utility Rates in Almaty
From February, residents of Almaty will face higher tariffs for water supply and sewage services.
This is due to the implementation of a long-term infrastructure renewal program. The city authorities have launched a strategy called "Tariff in Exchange for Investments," which involves the gradual modernization of engineering networks.
Currently, the wear and tear of water supply and sewage systems exceeds 50%.
Update on the Selection Rules for the "Bolashak" Scholarship
On February 2, new conditions for the competitive selection of candidates wishing to receive the "Bolashak" scholarship will come into effect.
A mechanism has been introduced that disqualifies applicants who do not achieve the minimum passing score. Now, those who do not pass the first stage will not be able to continue participating in the competition.
Increase in Autogas Prices
Previously we reported that the price of liquefied gas in the country has increased since the beginning of February.
This is due to a change in the order of the Ministry of Energy, which sets the maximum price for fuel. On average, prices across Kazakhstan have risen by 20.2%.
