According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, since the beginning of this year, basic pensions and all state allowances have been increased by 6.5%.

Contributory pensions have risen by 8.5%, exceeding the anticipated inflation rate by 2%.

Last year, social support expenditures amounted to 5.4 trillion tenge, with 3.8 trillion allocated for pensions.

Spending on social benefits represents 21.8% of the total budget. In the past year, 614 billion tenge was allocated for benefits for people with disabilities and for families who have lost their breadwinners. For large families, the government allocated 472.9 billion tenge.

Starting from 2023, Kazakhstan is gradually increasing the minimum basic pension to 70% of the subsistence minimum. The maximum basic pension is growing to 120%.

Since the beginning of this year, the amounts of social benefits have also changed:

  • For the birth of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd child, the payment is now 149,000 tenge instead of 140,000, and for the 4th and each subsequent child — 248,000 tenge instead of 233,000.
  • Large families are also receiving more: for families with 4 children — 63,000 tenge (up from 59,000), and for families with 10 children — 157,000 (up from 148,000).
  • For individuals with disabilities, the amounts have also increased: for the first group — up to 102,000 tenge, for the second — up to 81,000, and for the third — up to 55,000 tenge.

Overall, these changes and increases aim to support approximately 5 million people across Kazakhstan.
