Kazakhstan and the Russian Orthodox Church are strengthening their collaboration.

During his visit to the Russian Federation, Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev met in Moscow with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. On behalf of the country's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, he extended an invitation for the Patriarch to participate in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The two also discussed the role of spiritual diplomacy in addressing contemporary challenges, as reported by DKnews.kz.

The Senate Speaker expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Russian Orthodox Church for the Kazakhstan Congress of world and traditional religion leaders, which aids in strengthening global interfaith dialogue and the development of spiritual diplomacy at the international level.

Maulen Ashimbayev highlighted the contribution of the Orthodox community in Kazakhstan towards fostering unity among the Kazakhstani people.

During the discussion, the Senate Speaker emphasized that preparations for the VIII Congress are taking place amid challenging global issues, the resolution of which necessitates the consolidation of efforts from spiritual leaders. These challenges are further exacerbated by problems such as climate change, biological threats, economic downturn, rising poverty, and more.

For his part, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the invitation to the VIII Congress of world and traditional religion leaders and noted that the Russian Orthodox Church supports Kazakhstan's efforts to promote ideas of peace and cooperation among representatives of various religions.
