Kazakhstan has established a technological ecosystem that generates startups valued at $1 billion and even $10 billion. This was stated by Yoram Wijnsma, the founder and CEO of Dealroom.com, a leading global platform for startup and venture capital analysis. His remarks were cited by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Speaking at the international forum Digital Almaty 2025, Yoram Wijnsma emphasized the significance of new ecosystems and the opportunities they create for the global market. According to him, the USA and Europe remain leaders in the number of startups, but Asian countries are demonstrating high growth rates. Kazakhstan already accounts for 15–20% of all global venture capital invested in Central Asia.
“Kazakhstan has become an important player in the global startup ecosystem. Today, a large number of high-tech startups are developing here, and venture capital investments in the region have significantly increased. Kazakhstan is not only catching up but also surpassing the USA in the dynamics of the emergence of ‘decacorns’—startups valued at over $10 billion. In a very short time, in the still nascent IT ecosystem of Kazakhstan, companies like Kaspi.kz have already emerged with valuations exceeding $10 billion, highlighting the high potential of the Kazakhstani ecosystem in attracting international venture investments and creating world-class companies,” noted Yoram Wijnsma.
As part of its work, Dealroom.co has already analyzed 101 startups in Kazakhstan, which is just the beginning of exploring the region. Wijnsma expressed confidence that over the next year, thanks to strengthening cooperation with the international technology park Astana Hub, the database will expand significantly, allowing for a more accurate assessment of the opportunities and trends in the Kazakhstani startup ecosystem.
The integration of Kazakhstan's ecosystem into the Dealroom.co platform is of strategic importance, opening access to international investments and partnerships. This will help Kazakhstani startups attract capital, accelerate entry into global markets, and strengthen the country’s position on the world map of innovations.
