KazMunayGas has signed agreements with Shell and Chevron for the right to utilize geological information. This will enable the national company to effectively leverage the results of seismic studies for planning joint geological exploration activities, reports a correspondent from the business information center Kapital.kz, citing KMG's press service.
In Astana, the chairman of KazMunayGas, Askhat Khasenov, met with the senior vice president and chairman of Shell in Kazakhstan, Ali Al-Djanabi, and the deputy managing director of Chevron's Eurasian division, Dylan Morgan.
"We are confident that our partnership with leading global energy companies will give a new impetus to the development of geological exploration in Kazakhstan and will help attract new technologies and foreign direct investments," noted Askhat Khasenov.
The collaboration with partners is aimed at jointly exploring the potential of the Mugodjar project in the Aktobe region.
As a reminder, in October 2024, KazMunayGas announced its search for a strategic partner for the joint implementation of a new subsoil use project called "Mugodjar." It was indicated that the Mugodjar South and Mugodjar North areas are included in the State Fund Management Program and are part of the list of territories designated for exploration and production or extraction of hydrocarbons for granting subsoil use rights to national companies.
