Alexander Kerzhakov expressed doubts about his coaching career following his time at the Almaty "Kairat", as reported by Sports.kz referencing Sports.ru.
The Russian specialist has been without a club since September 2024, when he left his position as head coach of "Kairat".
— What’s the news after "Kairat"?
— I'm working on restoring my mental and emotional state. My health hasn't suffered, but after such situations, you start to doubt your profession.
Because you give your all, and in the end, you might hear: “When the hell are you going to start working?” And you are completely drained, like a lemon, giving everything you have day in and day out, 24/7.
— You faced the fact that at "Kairat", the president closely examines the club's operations. What’s better: having some kind of council where the coach appears once a month to discuss things, or when the president watches all the training sessions and interacts every day?
— It wasn't that the president was constantly interfering. Moreover, during the initial meetings, it was all discussed: “There will be no situations where I will interfere with the coach's work. That won’t happen. The choice of the lineup, tactics — that’s all yours.” It wasn’t just me; my family and the sports director were involved. He directly stated: “That won’t happen.”
I was fully confident that I had finally found a team where my work wouldn’t be interfered with, but after the first defeat, which was my second match, I encountered a situation where I was offered a new scheme and tactics for the game.
I think it’s normal to have discussions internally when there is an owner.
He pays the money, he can ask questions, he can talk to you, but it should be a constructive dialogue.
When we were winning, I never heard: “You won, you did the right thing.” It was always “we” who won. When we lost — “you lost,” — said Alexander Kerzhakov on the YouTube channel “This is football, brother!”.
