During a government meeting, Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev announced that the Industry Council on Professional Qualifications is actively operating in the country, having defined 43 professional standards for working professions, along with new specialties and qualifications.
Currently, there is a critical shortage of qualified personnel in the energy sector. For this reason, particular emphasis is placed on nurturing and educating highly qualified specialists, with the involvement of related agencies.
Specifically, by 2025, four standards for new professions have been developed in the energy sector, including those related to the nuclear industry.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, efforts are underway to train specialists for the energy sector at 40 higher educational institutions and 215 colleges. A total of 19,000 students are being educated in specialties related to electric power, thermal energy, and renewable energy.
It is estimated that by 2030, considering the construction of new energy facilities, the demand for qualified personnel will reach up to 20,000 individuals.
New specialties are being introduced in colleges to train workers for nuclear power plants. The National Nuclear Center and the Institute of Nuclear Physics, in partnership with educational institutions, provide a practical training base for students specializing in nuclear fields.
