Transport Minister Marat Karabaev stated at a briefing following a government meeting that the preliminary report on the investigation into the AZAL plane crash near Aktau will be published in the coming days, as reported by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center.

“Specialists are working... You know that international experts from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, Brazil, CENIPA, and ICAO are involved. All specialists are collaborating and are in the final stages. We expect that the preliminary report will be officially published on our website in the coming days,” said Marat Karabaev.

The minister emphasized that the specialists need time to complete their work.

“Until the report is published, we will not provide additional comments, but I assure you that it will be published in the coming days,” he noted.

On January 24, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev promised that preliminary results of the investigation into the crash of the Azerbaijani airline AZAL near Aktau would be published next week.

On December 25, 2024, a plane operating the Baku-Grozny route crashed near Aktau. The aircraft belongs to Azerbaijan Airlines. In the aviation disaster, 29 people survived, while 38 lost their lives, including crew members. The passengers included citizens of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.

On December 30, Kazakhstan sent the flight recorders of the Azerbaijani plane for decoding to the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents in Brazil (CENIPA). The decoding of the "black boxes" began in Brazil on January 3, 2025.

On January 7, the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents of the Brazilian Air Force completed the decoding of the flight recorder data. Copies of the decoding of the AZAL plane's black boxes are also available to the Azerbaijani side.
