The Minister of Energy revealed who will be constructing the nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.

During a government meeting, Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev discussed the number of jobs that will be created with the construction of Kazakhstan's first nuclear power plant, as reported by Bizmedia.kz.

“According to the project for the construction of the nuclear power plant, approximately 5,000 jobs will be created by 2030, and during the peak construction period in 2032, around 10,000 jobs will be available. Once operational, the project will provide at least 2,000 jobs,” said Satkaliev.

He mentioned that specialized programs will be established in support of the nuclear power plant construction at domestic colleges to train personnel for the facility. These will include dosimetrists, repair technicians for steam turbine equipment, specialists in servicing and repairing mechanical equipment at nuclear stations, IT specialists for nuclear facilities, and more.

“Close collaboration with electrical engineering colleges is being carried out by affiliated organizations — the National Nuclear Center and the Institute of Nuclear Physics, which serve as the foundation for students' internships in nuclear specialties,” the minister stated.
