According to the Department of Emergency Situations (DES) of the Altai region, the average snow cover height in the area reaches 98 cm. This poses a risk of flooding, particularly in areas where snow accumulates near residential buildings and administrative structures.
It has been reported that a significant amount of snow has fallen. If it is not cleared in time, serious problems may arise. Residents in at-risk zones should not wait for the consequences but should proactively clear their yards.
It is also important for organizations to take care of their territories by removing snow, clearing roofs, and knocking down icicles, noted the chief specialist of the DES in the Altai region, Dinara Kuznetsova.
In the event of a worsening situation in the Altai region, 20 reception points for affected individuals have been prepared. They are located in 12 populated areas, including the cities of Altai and Serebryansk, as well as villages and settlements in the region. In these locations, people will find temporary shelter if flooding begins.
