Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov visited enterprises in Astana to learn about the development of metallurgy, light and construction industries, as well as the automotive and railway engineering sectors. He reviewed the implementation of the president's directives outlined in the Address "Just Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Public Optimism," focusing on economic diversification and the execution of investment projects in priority sectors, as reported by Primeminister.kz.
During his visit to the Industrial Park, the Prime Minister was briefed on the socio-economic development of Astana. The Deputy Akim of the city, Evgeny Glotov, reported that by the end of the first half of the year, the GRP of Astana had reached 5.5 trillion tenge, surpassing last year's figures for the same period by 7%. The share of small and medium-sized businesses in the gross regional product stands at 72%. Over the past ten months, approximately 1.3 trillion tenge in investments has been attracted to Astana, with industrial production increasing by nearly 7% compared to 2023.
The head of the government toured the production facilities of the LLP "Digital System Service," located on an area of 7,500 square meters. The factory has established the production of telecommunications equipment, including modems, switches, routers, telephones, and stations for home, office, and industrial use. The factory operates a complete production cycle—from software development to assembly and packaging of finished products. The Prime Minister was informed that after modernization, the plant's capacity increased to 720,000 units per year, with the potential to expand to 805,000 devices. The total investment in the plant's development since its establishment in 2005 is approximately 4.5 million dollars. Currently, the production facility provides stable employment for 100 employees.
Olzhas Bektanov emphasized the importance of such production facilities for reducing dependency on imports and creating conditions for increasing the export of high-tech products.
Currently, the product range of Digital System Service is widely represented in the Kazakh market. The company's development plans include entering foreign markets, including Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Arab countries.
Using the investment project of the American company Wabtec as an example, Olzhas Bektanov explored the development of railway engineering. The "Locomotive Assembly Plant" produces up to 120 mainline locomotives per year. Since the start of production, a total of 611 locomotives have been assembled. The company's president, Marat Tleubaev, reported to the Prime Minister that all key assembly units have been mastered at the plant, with the localization level currently reaching 75%. The total investment in the project amounts to 30 billion tenge. The enterprise has created 742 jobs.
The Prime Minister noted the positive trends in investment growth in the development of railway engineering and the creation of new production and service facilities. The implementation of such projects contributes to establishing Kazakhstan as a transport and logistics hub, in line with the objectives set by the head of state.
Olzhas Bektanov learned about the development of the light industry through the example of the LLP "Ashina KZ" sewing factory. The factory has an annual production capacity of 24,000 units. The project cost is 1.4 billion tenge, and it has created 60 jobs.
During his working visit, Olzhas Bektanov also visited the LLP "Tau-Ken Altyn" refining plant. The enterprise specializes in purifying gold and other precious metals from impurities, ensuring high quality. The plant operates using advanced refining technologies that have no analogs in the CIS, allowing the production of goods that meet global standards. Since the launch of the enterprise, a total of 336.7 tons of refined gold and 64.2 tons of silver have been produced, with an annual capacity reaching 25 tons of gold and 50 tons of silver.
The director of LLP "Tau-Ken Altyn," Ainur Aydarhanov, reported that the plant is actively implementing ESG principles, reducing energy consumption, water and heat usage, and developing the recycling of catalysts and waste, which will expand the raw material base and strengthen market positions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the activities of the plant contribute to strengthening Kazakhstan's position in the global precious metals market. Overall, such production projects play a key role in implementing the country's economic diversification strategy.
“The head of state has set the task of fully unlocking the industrial potential of the country. We have all the opportunities and necessary tools for this. Such industrial parks with favorable conditions contribute to the development of the industrial sector. Currently, there are 14 special economic zones in Kazakhstan with varying sectoral focus and more than 20 industrial zones. We will continue and scale this practice. Our task is to develop high-value-added industries, effectively utilize and process domestic raw materials, and form ancillary production around major enterprises. It is important not only to reduce reliance on imports but also to create new opportunities for the growth of products with significant added value,” noted Olzhas Bektanov.
