The verdict has been announced in the case concerning the tragedy at the "Kazakhstan" mine.

A fire broke out at the "Kazakhstan" mine in 2023, owned by the company "ArcelorMittal Temirtau." The fire was caused by the ignition of a conveyor belt. At the time of the incident, there were 227 people in the mine, and not everyone could be evacuated. The fire resulted in the deaths of 5 individuals and injured 17 others.

The investigation revealed that faulty conveyor equipment was in operation at the mine, which had not been repaired for a long time, and no measures were taken to halt operations. The fire occurred due to violations that were allowed to take place.

Charges of violating safety regulations during mining or construction activities, which resulted in the negligent deaths of two or more individuals under Article 277, Part 3, of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, were brought against four employees. The court sentenced each of them to 4 years of imprisonment.
