Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and the head of the Presidential Administration Aibek Dadebay attended a meeting of the deputies of the Maslikhats of the Turkestan region, as reported by primeminister.kz .

The deputies were presented with a letter from the head of state regarding the nomination of two candidates for the position of akim of the Turkestan region. Nuralkhan Kusherov, the deputy akim of the Turkestan region, and Mukhit Turyssbekov, the akim of the Sozak district, were proposed for consideration. The results of the open voting were summarized by the electoral commission. 224 out of 288 deputy votes were cast in favor of Nuralkhan Kusherov.

Following the meeting of the Maslikhat deputies, Nuralkhan Oralbaevich Kusherov was appointed akim of the Turkestan region by the corresponding presidential decree.

During a meeting with the region's active members, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov thanked Darkhan Satybaldy for his contribution to the region's development and wished him success in his future endeavors.

The Prime Minister introduced the new akim to the region's active members. Among the priority areas of his work are the diversification of the economy and the transition to cluster production with the creation of new productive jobs, enhancing the investment appeal of the SEZ “TURAN” and the region as a whole, unlocking the transport and logistics potential, and boosting the development of the agricultural sector. A number of tasks were set to ensure the population has access to affordable and quality drinking water and stable food prices, as well as modernizing engineering infrastructure.

Given the historical and spiritual significance of the regional center – Turkestan – special attention has been directed to preserving the cultural heritage and strengthening ties between the fraternal peoples of the Turkic world, as well as developing the tourism industry.
