As Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov noted, there has recently been an increase in complaints from Kazakhstani citizens regarding train delays. He inquired about the reasons behind this issue.
“In our company, this matter is under special control. The current situation is linked to road repairs and the necessity to ensure passenger safety. Over the past few years, we have doubled the volume of road repair work. We apologize to passengers and ask for their understanding regarding the situation,” said Nurlan Sauranbaev.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Transport, Marat Karabaev, reported that, in addition to implementing infrastructure projects, efforts are underway to develop the main railway network in the country.
“To ensure uninterrupted transportation and increase the capacity of main railway networks, it is planned to conduct repairs on 11,000 km of railway sections by 2029, of which repairs on 2,800 km of track (26%) have been completed to date. Additionally, plans include constructing about 5,000 km of new and second tracks (including 1,300 km currently under construction), implementing automated block signaling over 2,600 km, and modernizing 184 stations,” he stated.
