The police in the Akmolinsk region have apprehended members of a criminal group that fraudulently secured loans using the identities of unsuspecting citizens, according to Bizmedia.kz.

Police reported that the fraudsters operated in the region for several months, targeting victims among the illiterate and socially vulnerable individuals. By promising quick side jobs, they transported people to Almaty, where they held them until the completion of loan arrangements. Many victims lacked a full understanding of what was happening, allowing the criminals to act almost without obstruction.

Five suspects are currently in temporary detention. Investigators have established that four of them are residents of the Akmolinsk region, and one is from Almaty. They deceived their victims into signing loan agreements for substantial amounts.

Seven victims are mentioned in the case; however, the police believe that the actual number is significantly higher. During searches of the detainees, large sums of money, traumatic and cold weapons, banking contracts, as well as mobile devices and data storage media that may have been used in criminal activities were discovered.

The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is determining the exact number of victims and the total damage caused by the group's actions. Under the article concerning fraud committed by an organized group, all suspects face severe penalties.
