A former member of the Amanat party has been sentenced to life in prison.

Until 2020, Jakupov worked in the akimat, later serving in the district maslikhat, and he left his party position just before his arrest. Jakupov was detained in August 2024 when horrifying details of the violence emerged.

Serikkan Jakupov, the former head of the Aksu district branch of the Amanat party, was sentenced to life in prison by the Zhetisu court for crimes against a 7-year-old boy, his wife's biological nephew.

Following Jakupov's arrest, Amanat distanced itself from him, stating that he had resigned voluntarily several weeks prior to the incident. At that time, the party's executive secretary, Elnur Beisenbaev, reminded everyone of the presumption of innocence, asserting that Jakupov was no longer affiliated with the party when the crime occurred.
