The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with Marat Omarov, the chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition (APDC), to hear a report on the agency's activities for the year 2024, as reported by Bizmedia.kz.

Tokayev was informed about the decrease in concentration in key commodity markets and the progress of privatization under the President's Decree on economic liberalization. The agency has completed 97 antitrust investigations.

Plans for competition development for 2025 were presented by Marat Omar. A package of legislative changes was developed to enhance the efficiency of investigations and market analysis, as well as to strengthen control over prices in monopoly markets.

The creation and development of a digital ecosystem for the Agency for Competition Protection is also planned, which will include an information and analytical system, a digital portal, and analytical tools based on artificial intelligence technologies.

As the president of the Football Federation of Kazakhstan, Omarov informed the Head of State about plans for the development of domestic football and support for youth sports.

Following the meeting, the President issued a series of instructions aimed at promoting competition.
