The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Nysanbaev, explained that all necessary services were dispatched to the locations of the deaths, and samples have been collected. Now, we must wait for definitive conclusions from experts.
Nysanbaev specified that the deaths began to be recorded from October 24 to 28, with a total of 1,115 carcasses counted.
“Practically all relevant services have gone to the site. These include veterinarians, ecologists, the Institute of Hydrobiology and Ecology, and public organizations. Samples have been taken to date. It’s too early to make any statements. However, pathological materials have been collected. The initial tests have already been conducted for diseases such as Pasteurellosis, cholera, and plague. The results are negative. We will wait,” he said.
According to him, it is currently impossible to determine the exact causes of the deaths.
“In any case, there are many hypotheses, and everyone has their own opinion. Some say there were underwater earthquakes, and there was a release of natural gas. Others suggest it is a consequence of pollution. But let’s wait and see. In any case, we are continuously monitoring the situation, and I receive daily reports every morning,” he added.
