The specialized environmental prosecutor's office of the North Kazakhstan region has identified serious violations during the analysis of compliance with forest legislation. These violations include the failure to take measures to compensate for damage caused to the forest area, as well as inadequate implementation of the national project "Zhasyl Kazakhstan," particularly the lack of work on unaccounted forests in the region.
Officials from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Regulation of the regional akimat have not taken measures to compensate for the losses in forestry production due to the appropriation of forest lands for the expansion of urban areas in the city of Petropavlovsk since 2006, amounting to 53 million tenge, in violation of the Forest Code.
Forestry enterprises "Akan-seri," "Burluk," "Mamlyut," and "Esil" have not met the targets for increasing forest reproduction volumes in 2023, in violation of the Code's requirements.
The neglect of the Environmental Code by an entity in the agro-industrial complex has led to an ammonia spill in the forest area, resulting in damage to the forest fund. However, the forestry institution has not taken timely measures to compensate for the damage.
According to the prosecutor's oversight acts, the state has recovered damages amounting to 53.2 million tenge, and 4 directors of forestry institutions have been held accountable for disciplinary violations.
Following the prosecutor's recommendations, initial work has been conducted this year to account for forest areas not included in the state forest fund.
