In the Pavlodar region, there has been a rise in incidents where consumers encounter subpar services or products in the cosmetology sector. Beauty salons often employ aggressive sales tactics, pushing unnecessary procedures and cosmetics onto clients. A woman saw an advertisement on Instagram for a free cosmetic service and decided to visit the clinic. During the procedure, the cosmetologist convinced her to purchase a skincare set for 200,000 tenge and pressured her into several additional paid procedures totaling another 200,000 tenge.

Realizing she had fallen into a trap, the consumer contacted the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection. The department specialists explained her rights as outlined in Article 35 of the Republic of Kazakhstan Law "On Consumer Rights Protection," and assisted her in drafting a pre-trial complaint.

As a result of the intervention by the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection, the clinic refunded the consumer 400,000 tenge for the substandard services and the unnecessary cosmetics and procedures.
