As noted by the bank's press service, the instant transfer service is available for retail clients with a fee of 0.5% of the transfer amount (but no less than 50 rubles). The transfer amount can range from 100 to 200 thousand rubles per transaction. Funds sent in rubles are automatically converted into tenge.
Since 2022, in the wake of sanctions imposed on the Russian financial sector due to the war with Ukraine, Russian banks have been facing restrictions on access to international capital markets, prohibitions on transactions in dollars, euros, and other currencies, as well as asset freezes.
Kazakhstanis working with Russian banks often encounter issues with cross-border transfers: payment delays, the inability to use foreign cards, and limitations in cooperation with Kazakhstani banks that are linked to sanctioned entities in Russia.
The most popular method of transferring money between Russia and Kazakhstan remains the "Golden Crown" system. However, it has come under sanctions, and several Kazakhstani banks, including Halyk Bank, ForteBank, Jusan Bank, and RBK Bank, have ceased cooperation with it. Kazakhstani VTB initially did not work with the "Golden Crown".
