The third round of political consultations took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan between the foreign policy departments of Kazakhstan and Slovenia.
During the consultations, diplomats from both countries discussed a wide range of issues, including political cooperation, trade and economic interactions, and cultural and humanitarian ties. They also reviewed the schedule of planned bilateral events and visits for 2025.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Vasilenko, emphasized that Kazakhstan views Slovenia as an important political and economic partner within the European Union, expressing readiness to further develop and expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In this context, he highlighted the significance of the recently opened Embassy of Kazakhstan in Slovenia, which symbolizes the strengthening of bilateral relations.
The head of the Slovenian delegation, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Marko Štučin, underscored that Kazakhstan is a key partner for Slovenia in Central Asia and expressed confidence in the deepening of cooperation across various fields.
During the discussion on Kazakhstan's cooperation with the European Union, the representative of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed support for the liberalization of the visa regime between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EU.
Furthermore, diplomats from both countries exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agenda, expressing their commitment to further close interaction within multilateral structures and international organizations.
The parties agreed to maintain an active and productive dialogue between their foreign policy departments and to continue joint efforts to enhance trade, economic, and investment ties.
Since 2005, the total inflow of direct investments from Slovenia to Kazakhstan has amounted to 36 million US dollars. The trade turnover between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Slovenia for 2023 was 111.5 million dollars. In the period from January to September 2024, the trade turnover reached 92.5 million dollars, including exports of 4.4 million dollars and imports of 88.1 million dollars.
