The Department of Trade and Consumer Protection for the Almaty region has fined LLP "Leroy Merlin" (now "Lemana PRO" - Ed.) 30 MRP, which amounts to 110,760 tenge, as reported by a correspondent from the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Trade Committee.
It is worth noting that the monthly calculation indicator for 2024 is set at 3,692 tenge.
"In September, a resident of the Almaty region filed a complaint through the "E-otinish" platform to the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection of the region. In his statement, the citizen reported that the product he intended to purchase at the Leroy Merlin construction supermarket was priced at 1,550 tenge. However, at the checkout, the same item with that article number was sold for 2,880 tenge. Based on this complaint, the department conducted an unplanned inspection of the large construction supermarket," the committee explained.
It was established that two different price tags were displayed at the retail outlet. After inspecting the location mentioned in the complaint, it was found that the product outside the store was a branded construction item, but the seller indicated a price of 1,550 tenge on the price tag.
According to point 54 of Chapter 2 of the approved internal trade rules, the seller is obliged to sell the product to the buyer at the price indicated on the price tag displayed in the internal or external windows of the retail outlet. If the product is sold at a price exceeding that indicated on the price tag, administrative liability is provided for under part 4 of Article 193 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
The department drew up a protocol for the administrative violation in accordance with part 4 of Article 193 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. The administrative fine amounted to 30 MRP. The supermarket administration exercised its right to pay 50% of the fine amount.
A directive was sent to the company's management to rectify the violation.
It should be noted that "Leroy Merlin" has begun a phased rebranding. The new name is "Lemana PRO."
