In the Kazakh army, Kucakbaev rose from a military academy cadet to the commander of the regional command "South." Over the years, he held significant positions related to combat training. He served as the commander of several military units and as the commander of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
He graduated from the Almaty Higher Combined Arms Command School in 1997, from the National Defense University in 2007, and from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2019.
He has been awarded the "Dank" and "Aybyn" II class orders, departmental awards, and commemorative medals.
By another decree, Asan Kuanishyevich Zhusupov has been relieved of this position.
The reshuffling did not stop there. Kasyim-Zhomart Tokayev also relieved Kuanishbek Ushtaev from the position of commander of the regional command "South." He was succeeded in this role by Yerzhan Ibraev.
