The total amount of deposits from individuals and legal entities in Kazakhstan's second-tier banks reached 39.77 trillion tenge by the end of November 2024, marking an increase of 1.2% or 459.46 billion tenge compared to October 2024, as reported by Interfax-Kazakhstan.
More than half of this growth is attributed to "Bank CentrCredit." The overall increase was driven by three players: "Bank CentrCredit," Bank RBK, and "Eurasian Bank."
In November 2024, the top 10 banks (compared to November 2023) included "Eurasian Bank," "Freedom Bank Kazakhstan," the China Industrial and Commercial Bank in Almaty, Altyn Bank, and DB "Bank of China in Kazakhstan." The following banks dropped out of the list: ForteBank (3rd place in 2023), Home Credit Bank (5th place), DB "Kazakhstan-Ziraat International Bank" (7th place), Islamic bank "ADCB" (8th place), and Islamic bank "Zaman Bank" (9th place).
As of November 2024, the top 10 banks with the highest increase in deposit volume (in absolute terms) are as follows:
1. "Bank CentrCredit." The volume of deposits increased by 250.1 billion tenge to 4.9 trillion tenge (6th place in 2023). 2. Bank RBK. Deposits rose by 136.8 billion tenge to 1.44 trillion tenge (4th place in 2023). 3. "Eurasian Bank." Deposits grew by 82.35 billion tenge to 2.1 trillion tenge (16th place in 2023). 4. "Freedom Bank Kazakhstan." The volume of deposits increased by 65.96 billion tenge to 914.2 billion tenge (18th place in 2023). 5. China Industrial and Commercial Bank in Almaty. Deposits rose by 55.7 billion tenge to 236.7 billion tenge (11th place in 2023). 6. "Citibank Kazakhstan." The volume of deposits increased by 52.1 billion tenge to 978.26 billion tenge (10th place in 2023). 7. Bereke Bank. Deposits grew by 39.3 billion tenge to 1.39 trillion tenge (1st place in 2023). 8. "Otbası Bank." Deposits increased by 34.85 billion tenge to 2.6 trillion tenge (2nd place in 2023). 9. Altyn Bank. Deposits rose by 29.5 billion tenge to 689.4 billion tenge (20th place in 2023). 10. DB "Bank of China in Kazakhstan." Deposits increased by 21.9 billion tenge to 307.3 billion tenge (17th place in 2023).
Over the month, there was a withdrawal of deposits from "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan" amounting to 115.3 billion tenge, from Kaspi Bank - 79.6 billion tenge, from Forte Bank - 49.4 billion tenge, and from Halyk Bank - 37.3 billion tenge. Additionally, the Islamic bank "Zaman Bank" lost 18.15 billion tenge from its total deposits, DB "Kazakhstan-Ziraat International Bank" lost 9.3 billion tenge, AO "VTB Bank" lost 6.7 billion tenge, and Nurbank lost 758.9 million tenge.
