Gas prices should align with those of neighboring countries, according to the Minister of Energy.

The Minister of Energy, Almasadam Satkaliyev, discussed what gasoline prices might look like in the near future, as reported by Bizmedia.kz.
Gas prices should align with those of neighboring countries, according to the Minister of Energy.

“The essence of deregulation is that the market will determine the upper limit. This depends on the current situation of supply and demand. A multitude of factors influences the price, including the need for investment in oil and gas infrastructure across the entire chain, from extraction to processing. Additionally, there are costs associated with networks involved in the distribution of petroleum products,” said Almasadam Satkaliyev during a briefing at the ministry.

He also noted that ideally, prices should align with those of neighboring countries: in the north with Russia, and in the south — approaching the prices of Central Asian countries.

“The state does not set measures or plans tied to any specific price. Regardless, we will monitor the social situation. Prices must be socially responsible and should not destabilize the petroleum market. Therefore, this price will be systematically and gradually increased under the supervision of the AQR. If we talk about market principles, at some point, it will likely stabilize at a level comparable to that of Russia,” indicated the Minister of Energy.
