The Minister of Internal Affairs, Yerzhan Sadenov, reported to the President of Kazakhstan about the criminal situation in the country and the implementation of the principle of "Law and Order" by the internal affairs bodies, as stated by the press service of Akorda.

In 2024, the number of crimes in the country has decreased by more than 12,700. In recent years, there has been a significant reduction in criminal activities, including particularly dangerous crimes such as murders, robberies, thefts, and burglaries. The introduction of modern investigative methods has enhanced the resolution rates across all categories of criminal offenses.

Yerzhan Sadenov discussed the results of efforts to track down criminals. In 2024, the police apprehended 1,949 wanted individuals.

The head of state was informed about the progress in implementing his directives on combating organized crime, cybercrime, and drug-related offenses, as well as measures for preventing violations. Specifically, 264 individuals have been brought to justice for involvement in organized criminal groups. Over the past 12 months, approximately 7,500 internet resources containing information about drug trafficking have been identified, nearly 22 tons of drugs have been prevented from entering circulation, and 64 drug laboratories have been dismantled. Additionally, 65 million calls from internet scammers have been blocked. A total of 48 SIM-box devices used for number substitution have been discovered. Criminals attempted to illegally transfer over 2 billion tenge out of the country.

The minister also informed about measures taken to protect the rights of minors, enhance migration control, ensure road safety, and improve the criminal-penal system.

Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev issued several directives aimed at further improving law enforcement and public safety in the country.

It is worth noting that on January 21, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Committee, with the coordination of the prosecutor's office, completed a large-scale and lengthy special operation aimed at curbing the illegal activities of criminal groups. It was also revealed that over the past two years, more than 1,000 units of firearms and traumatic weapons have been seized in Kazakhstan.
