Kazakhstan will implement a national standard for defining authentic honey.

Previously, the senator stated that 38% of honey produced in Russia is counterfeit, which significantly increases the likelihood of such products entering the Kazakhstani market. To address this issue, Kuziyev proposed the implementation of a government program to support beekeeping and to establish strict controls over the import of beekeeping products.

Olzhas Bektenov responded that an analysis of standards is currently underway to identify methods for verifying the authenticity of honey. He also noted that there are 416 laboratories in the country conducting veterinary and sanitary examinations of livestock products, including honey. Additionally, the Ministry of Health is responsible for inspecting food products and honey.

In Kazakhstan, diseases affecting honey bees are classified as particularly dangerous animal diseases. Their prevention, diagnosis, and eradication are carried out by local authorities funded by the budget. So far this year, laboratories have conducted over 347 studies.
